Missing out On FIFA World Cup 2002

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 There are no words that can explain
The awful heartache and the pain
That dreadful day when it was known
My beloved Oranje would stay at home

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The fact depressing me the most
On that disgraceful day
Was that my hero, Nistelrooy
Would have no chance to play

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 For he has skill, equalled by few,
If anyone at all
That magical ability
Every time he kicks a ball

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 He would have surely helped them
At home or even away
But now we have a second chance
As long as Ruud can play

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 This European championship
Brings chances for my team
The endless opportunities
To realise a dream

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Van the man will lead us
To victory and good form
With all our skill and power
We’ll take Europe by storm

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 There is never any doubt
Within my heart I’m sure
If Ruud is anywhere near goal
He will certainly score

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 There are no words that can describe
The excitement building up inside
Oranje will no longer let me down
They will return with Europe’s crown

Notes

The Poem refers to The Netherlands not qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2002, and ends with a description of the excitement at Qualifying for the Euro 2004 championship after their 6 – 0 demolition of Scotland.
