Money Gone Mad

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Make it a Closed Shop, why don’t we – thirty
Million to the team that comes bottom. The rich
Get richer, and so do the rest. Stuff the clubs in
The Championship, and lower – why do they
Exist ? Just moaners and losers, the lot of them.
So bring on the megabucks; we’re all wallowing,
Drowning in an endless stream of cash. Far too
Much to count; too much to care about anyone
Else. Make the Premier a cosy cartel, immune to
Football’s realities – immersed in self-interest.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 And where are the FA, while this greed multiplies ?
Ensuring fair shares for all, big and small – No.
The dubious billionaires, the slimy agents, the
Avaricious players, the amoral club hierarchies,
All in it for as much as they can grab. Times past,
There was equality, of sorts. Forest, Villa, Derby,
Of modest means – but they all won the league.
No longer; now, it’s multi-national squads, multi
National owners. Brand, Market, Profile, Image;
Money dictates, money decides – competition denied.
