Mortification

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The anger welled up from deep inside
There was nowhere for our lads to hide
I’ve seen most games since seventy eight
It was the worst and no debate
Finnans back pass, crazy stuff
Andy O’Brien, powder puff
Paddy Kenny, what a state
The Dunney monster did berate
Kev Kilbane his teeth were gritted
Duffer as usual wasn’t committed
Clinton was poor and quiet and bland
Robbie’d be better minus arm band

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Players were poor, defeat was destined
The tactics must be surely questioned
Stan was stuck in the stands like glue
Kevin Mac Donald didn’t have a clue
Changes were needed, a roll of the dice
He didn’t make any, we paid a high price
The game continued, further downhill
Until the relief of that final shrill
A sense of shock engulfed our nation
As well as shame and mortification
Pitiful, deplorable, a holy show
Nothing else for it, Stan must go.

Notes

Last Saturdays 5-2 defeat to Cyprus still haunts me.
