muppets

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 halfway down the table, is a position where we sit
there isn’t any other position, quite like it
we never seem to aspire, to reach to the top
but never are we in danger, of the dreaded drop

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 we haven’t the desire, to drag ourselves up
we only pull our finger out, when it comes to the cup
we’re never quite in danger, of falling through the floor
but neither do we go knocking, on Europe’s door

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 we pinch from the poor, and give to the rich
but it’s never our own diamonds, that sparkle on the pitch
our stated goal, should be to aim for the top
this lack of ambition, has now got to stop

Notes

With apologies to A.A. Milne, (who wrote Halfway Down The Stairs).
And to Jim Henson’s gang, (who famously recorded it), for this dirge about a bunch of muppets.

I don’t think I’m ever going to be able to translate ‘Mna Mna’ into football babble!
