My Wife and Michael Owen

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Do they still wear those thingies,
you know, instead of underpants or nothing at all?
That’s it, jockstraps! Jockstraps! Jockstraps!
What a funny name!

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Michael Owen
sniffing for loose balls
around the box

Notes

This is haibun – prose followed by (or containing) a haiku. This haiku is probably better termed a “senryu” as it is a satirical haiku. The piece came out of my wife reading about Owen in the Times – a piece by Bobby Robson I think. I won’t quiz her any further on how she came by her knowledge of jockstraps.
