Naughty, Bill

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 breaking news –
brought with a smile
Ribery’s out
and for a while

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 now it wasn’t malicious
and the grin was wry
delivered akin
tae a skittish spy

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 long in the tooth
and an experienced pro
but every break counts
when you so want to go!

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 yes, next year’s World Cup
just has that fascination
and helps explain
why no procrastination!

Notes

I couldn’t help but smile at the way the news was delivered last night –
by Bill O’Herlihy, the revered RTE anchor man on the Football panel.

‘Cos he couldn’t help but have a very partisan grin when delivering the
breaking news that Frank Ribery was a major doubt for both legs of the forthcoming World Cup Final playoffs, Ireland v France.

And I’m guessing that Bill genuinely wouldn’t wish an injury on anyone.

Bill is a living legend, for the way he plays straight man on a panel that allows Eamon Dunphy an acid and vitriolic platform, with Johnny Giles & 1 other playing straight bats. Much more entertaining than the BBC & ITV experts.

Stephen Hunt deliciously countered Dunphy’s criticisms of the national team last week, by calling Dunphy a ‘skinny little rat’.

Oh how we cheered! 😉
