Nobody was watching the cricket anyway

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 It’s raining now,
Coming down in stair rods.
We managed to get some play in,
An hour or so.
The visitors were batting
And were at 58 – 4
When the rains came.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Nobody was watching the cricket anyway,
Everyone was in the bar
Watching the FACup final,
And cheering United on.
The multiple groans around the bar
Told you without looking
That someone had nearly scored.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Bar staff working hard,
To keep up with the customers,
To keep up with the game.
Cheers and groans mixing with the clump of cricket boots
Made the afternoon surreal.
Looking out over a Lancashire village cricket ground
And cheering a football team two hundred and odd miles away.
