1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 What with the credit crunch and recession
And newspapers full of bad news
It’s great that we’ve always got our football
To keep us from hitting the valium or booze.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 At least on a Saturday we’re not in the shops
Enticed in by all of the closing down sales
No, we’ll spend all of our hard earned cash
Supporting our teams across England and Wales.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 She says we’ve been invited for dinner
To her auntie Flo’s on Boxing Day
But luckily you’ve already bought tickets
For you and your mate for Swansea away.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 She’s angry again and threatening to pack her bags
Saying she should have listened to her mother
And now she’s even accusing you of betrayal
Comparing your team to a secret lover.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 But due to years of following your club
Your skin has become as thick as a Rhinos hide
And even though you apologise and say sorry
It will never ever stop you from supporting your side.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Yes things are looking bleak at the moment
And it’s hard to put a smile on your face
But remember we’ve come through this before
Never underestimate the Bull Dog spirit of the British race.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 So to all you die hard soccer supporters
I raise a glass to you and your team for the new year
But please spare a thought for us long suffering Cov City fans
Because for us it’s never champagne, more like very flat beer !

I bet a lot of fans can relate to this poem, especially this time of year !
As a Cov City fan I’m used to lots of ups and downs, but we have developed a sense of humour over the years, which will help us over the coming months, on and off the pitch !
