Not Just A Number

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Just numbers on shirts, we knew their names
Recalling when players wore their shirts with pride
Not to advertise themselves
Numbered sequence, allied
Now after every game
6-0-6 discuss the names
Famous only for celebrity
Open mouthed scandals, broken sobriety
Our men have been replaced by boys
In the image of Peter Pan

Notes

The passing of Emlyn Hughes has reminded me what football used to be like, it was about the football, nothing else. Muddy pitches and
full terraces. I think I might be digging out a Match of the 70’s video later.
