Not Long Ago

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 It started two years ago in 2003
By 2004 it was even worse for me
2004 was Nicky Law
And now it’s Shim Sladey
A bit dodgy, maybe even shady
But it’s better say many
Couldn’t be any worse say more
We all remember Nicky Law
Not long ago in 2004

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Did it hurt me?
Yes, but I can’t say deeply
Could be worse; ups and downs
We’ll be back; back on track
For now I’ll take the topsy-turvy
Early season we were free and easy
All too soon, far too cagey

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Could be worse
At least there’s still a GTFC
Whatever happened to Darren Eadie?
We can sort our own dodgy knee

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Chin up
We’ve seen the emergence of Wayne Rooney
We’ve finally got Star Wars on DVD
Possible decapitation for the BNP
And I’m still wishy-washy
But I still haven’t hugged a tree

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Could be worse
We’ve seen the emergence of Wayne Rooney
We might not have Michael Reddy
This is my first season being thirty
And at least we still care enough
For Shim to drive us all crazy
Up the wall, round the bend
Ready to charge down his door
But he’s not Nicky Law
And this isn’t 2004

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Could be worse
Greece made football look silly
The winters are barely even chilly
And we are steady –
– ish
Not enough not to wish
But we know what to wish for
Because it’s not 2004
And we’ve lost Nicky Law
Smile, it’s 2005
