O To Float In Jose’s Coat

in Robben’s boots and so carefree
if time had placed me in the sun
beside a pool time til time was done
if I’d the hair Ferreira’s got
that stays in place however hot
i’d still prefer to be his fan
than some celebrity or band

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 if Bono, Stipey or The Who
admired my words and sung them too
if Terry Hatcher came to games
with me and drove us home again
to ask me how the universe
continues on as it gets worse
i’d still prefer to cuddle up
against the king of every Cup

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 if I coud walk the China Wall
or be a fly on Beckhams’ wall
or be a mobile in his pocket
or just a heart in Joss Stone’s locket
there’s nothing still that yet compares
with that great article he wears
and i’d spend all my life in hope
to live and float in Jose’s coat

based on a delightful Wordsworth’s stanze circa ………oh whatever!… the coat’s a legend and Matalan getting all that free publicity..they must be cleaning up. Poor bloke he’s gotta wear it in May yet..
