Official Mourning

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Remembering the referee
Box to box
Dressed in black
Always cast as the baddie
The only thing he interfered with was play
But they hated him anyway
Sexual slang peppering his season
Questioning his ancestry
He was salt of the earth
Without him now: he’s gone
There’s no ‘game on’
One minute silence lasts like stoppage time
Nobody to blow the whistle
Everyone dressed in black
He’s leaving the pitch on a high
He always had the last word
This time it’s Goodbye
