Oh where are the bums (that once sat on dem seats?)

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The “House Full” signs did not go up last season,
Despite our hard-won triumph on the park.
The Premiership was cited as the reason
The Eircom League has yet to make its mark.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The Irish “fans” need teams that are successful,
Like Celtic and United and the Pool.
Following Southend would be too stressful
And gen’rally avoided as a rule.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 But since Shels sank into the First Division,
Even our small fanbase has been hit.
The barstool fans show even more derision,
Dismissing us with scorn and little wit.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 But worse than that, a sizable proportion
Of fans have not come back again this year.
No wonder the accountant murmurs “Caution,”
The numbers do not fill his heart with cheer.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Teams most need support when they are struggling,
Fortunes should be borne through thick and thin.
Football teams are not designed for juggling,
Bad times must be taken on the chin.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Long hard slogs are oft the thing of fable,
Shoulders stiff from battering the door.
But when we’re back again atop the table,
We’ll relish the achievement even more.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 So where are all those bums that sat in glory
Upon those seats now vacant and unused?
Winning cups is only half the story –
You need to get emotionally bruised.

Our small enough fanbase has been eroded by our demotion. Is it a peculiarly Irish phenomenon that you only support successful teams?
