On Being a Football Pundit

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Some clubs are big.
Some clubs are not big.
Some clubs are really big.
They are really big clubs.
They are bigger than big clubs.
Big clubs are bigger than small clubs.
Being small is not being big.
That is shameful.
Players can be big too.
Some are bigger than others.
They are really big players.
Really big players can perform.
The biggest players can perform on any stage.
That is because they are quality.
They can deliver quality balls.
In the box. Or in the final third.
Small players lack quality.
Or sometimes that little bit of extra quality.
That is shameful.
Big players have extra class.
Or sometimes that little bit of extra class.
If you lack class, you lack quality and are small.
That is shameful.
But you can be plucky.
As John Keats sort of said,
Admittedly in a different context,
“That is all ye know on earth
And all ye need to know.”
