Notes

Written as part of the Chelsea FC , Education Through Football project.
During the 2nd World War teams were determined to carry on as normal, lthough putting an actual side out was often difficult. Many clubs were foroced to play guest players, as their notrmal players had been called away to serve in the armed forces. The dtrminaton to carry on was severely tested by hte danger of V1 flying bombs (Doodlebugs) and V2 .Rockets.Spotters with whistles were posted on the room of the Main Stand to try and warn the Spectators about the dangers of flying bombs.Nothing however could be done about V2 Rockets.
