On the road again

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Taking my seat on the coach
I got one by the window
so I could look out
and dream of an away win.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 My son sat next to me
as usual full of positivity
while me the hard bitten fan
just stared out saying nothing.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Driving in to Nottingham
my son got all excited
just like I used to get
now not so much these days.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Standing in the boozer
with pint in my hand
was this going to be the day
we got that elusive away win ?

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Me and my lad in the away end
the Sky Blue Army in full voice
standing shoulder to shoulder
it felt like the old days again.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Then we go a goal down
followed by a second
my son looks down at the floor
still our fans keep on singing.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Then we’re back on the coach
the mood is sombre and subdued
my lad’s positivity has gone
he just stares out of the window.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 The hour long drive back home
seems much longer when you lose
all the singing and banter has ceased
and conversation along with it.

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 But to be a football fan it really helps
to always look on the bright side of things
and our next game is back at our place
and we’re playing okay at the Ricoh.

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 By the time we arrive back home in Coventry
the fans decide to keep on believing
don’t let others see us down and depressed
with our support we can get out of this.

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 So until it’s all over and we’re down and out
us die hard fans will keep on travelling away
probably returning back after another loss
but still with hope and belief in our hearts.

Notes

Thought we might get our first away win at Forest on Saturday but alas it wasn’t meant to be.

Still the stewards there kept a low profile and let us stand throughout the match and by doing so it made for a better atmosphere I felt.

So we keep on battling and hopefully the team can turn things around, but once again our support was brilliant on the road.
