If the idol just signed don’t deliver some tin
Fast fading sun tans will labor cross green fields
Knowing dreams of a move for more dough
Have been shelved, but to press boys revealed.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Fresh printed programmes inform chilled out fans
Of new faces in team, seasons hopes, best laid plans
The stewards look well pleased to see you,
As they search with a smile through yer bag,
Looking for celery, plastic bottles with tops
And a ban if you’re caught smoking fags.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 “Where did yer go on yer holidays,
Miami, The Costa Del Sol?”.
“Nah I had two weeks stuck in front of the telly
I’m sick of Wimbledon, the cricket, the golf”.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Bright gaudy tee shirts and bright coloured shorts
Make beer bellied bald geezers think they’re in to sports
Sunglasses deflect rays of the beaming hot sun
As excitement builds up whilst the fans cheer as one.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 The days’s here at last,
You dreamed of as you dozed
On a far away beach
Or a holiday, on the drip, where you posed.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 It’s coming, it’s just round the corner
No more empty weekends filled with dread
Who’ll end up as this seasons top scorer
Or who’ll end up doing in yer head?

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Every teams equal at this point
Each team without losses or gains
Enjoy the new season, but what’s more important
Is that each of us enjoys….what is truly a wonderful game!

To all the die-hards out there, whoever you may follow, through out this season, and in whatever league they might be playing in, remember those words of wisdom that those, who have know idea what IT(The Football) is all about, are always telling us….It’s only a game!
