One For Sorrow.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 A magpie perched in a tree,
looking as sad as could be.
An owl from Sheffield flew by,
“Hello friend why do you cry”?
“Our chairman is called Shepherd,
and he keeps buying us sheep”
“That’s sad” said the wise old owl,
now I can see why you weep.
But a new day is dawning,
now you have got Allardyce.
So with Sam as your leader,
you will be in paradise.
He will be changing your flock,
you will soon be back in toon”
The magpie just laughed and said:
“Owl now please don’t be a loon.
Our last cup is now folklore,
we’ve had so many false starts.
Oh for a team of Geordies,
we know would play with their hearts”
The owl said, “I must be away,
I can hear the cock crowing.
But remember my friend
you still have Michael Owen”.
The magpie thought for a while,
then said a cheery goodnight.
“I suppose things could be worse,
if I was born red and white”
