One Of Those Wonderful Nights.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 We were joshing Rooney’s darby
We were roaring: “Ashley shoot”
There were Elbow (sic) fans stood laughing
In the midst of a right set to.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Punters let their seats fold up
As the action out on the field
Was that intense, it made common sense
Our ignoring plastic pews.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Wayne Rooney shut our racket up
When he fired them one ahead
We were down and truly on our uppers
As he breached our slack defence.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Our season seemingly over
We were frightened off the ball
Our defence reminding me of the cliffs at Dover:
A white, surrending and crumbling wall.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Half-time came and saved us
From being put right out of the game
As eternal optimists stood up
Contemplating “What will Carlo change?”

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Well change it round he did do
And as Drogba came racing on
With the look of one with a point to prove
We were quickly back on song.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 When David Luiz cracked a leveller in
United heads began to drop
Then a pretty dubious penalty decision
Set the home fans off amok.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 As Van der Sar turned on the gamesmanship
Trying put Super Frankie off
He was left clutching the air as a rasping kick
Almost knocked off poor Edwin’s block.

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Then Vidic shown a red card
Would reluctantly leave the field
The final whistle went and we partied hard
In the slim chance saloon, hoping yet fighting still!

Notes

When I was being interviewed by Talksport Radio outside The Bridge, in London yesterday (whilst plugging this wonderful site) lunchtime, I told their reporter we’d win 2-1, and I didn’t even have a bet on!

The reporter who was standing by the ticket office and asked me if I’d like to do an interview, seemed puzzled by my answer as us winning would let the Arsenal in with a title shout. Who cares let it go the wire I said, and if we only manage a Champions League spot then que sera sera.

What a game, the full on, no holds barred (David Luiz) English league match is still alive and kicking (sic), and long may it continue to do so.

A cousin of mine (a Millwall fan and a bookmaker) made a fortune on us (Chelsea) winning the game, as everybody had lumped on United, big time to win..with him. If United fail to win the title and they could, then he’s going to make an absolute mint.

Peace

Kev.
