Onward Blueclad Soldiers

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Onward, Blueclad Soldiers, onward, ever on.
Chests a-swell with pride to play for Everton.
We are right behind you, roaring our support,
And you know you’re rarely absent from our thoughts.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 For more than a Century, we have played the Game.
Who has not heard of us, knows not of our fame?
We have great Tradition, style, élan and dash.
All that we are lacking is a little cash.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 We have won no Silver for so many years.
But we’re not downhearted, we’re not shedding tears.
Optimists eternal, we remain upbeat.
Have you ever heard us whine, weep, whinge or bleat?

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 True, our Anfield Neighbours have won more than we.
Yet we are not jealous, or plagued by envy.
They must travel their road, we must travel ours.
Some day on us Fortune lavish gifts will shower.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Come on, you Scouse Heroes, bloodied but unbowed,
Bring us home a Trophy, home to cheering crowds.
F.A.Cup or Carling, even Premiership,
Then those pesky Koppites won’t give us no lip.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Onward, Mersey Marvels, hold your heads up high.
You know our Love for you will not ever die.
Firm in the belief that we shall overcome,
We still cry: “Nil Satis Nisi Optimum!”
