Our Home, Paradise

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 In the East End of Glasgow, there’s a sight to be seen
The home of my club, of the white and the green
Though it’s heavy with history, it soars to the skies
A place so revered, that it’s called Paradise

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Where our fathers, their fathers and their fathers before
Sang proud on the terrace, though they all are no more
Those men and the Jungle, their time now is gone
But in new generations their spirit lives on

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Well I’ve cheered there in sunshine, and I’ve sung there by floodlight
I’ve danced with delight and I’ve cried there in pain
But when Parkhead is roaring and singing
You know that the Bhoys will be winning

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 It’s the place where our legends are born, bred and raised
And once held in our hearts they cannot be erased
Like McGrory and Johnstone and Larsson and Hay
We’ll sing to their memory in the Celtic Way

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 In our tens of thousands we roar on the Bhoys
We can raise them to greatness when we sing with one voice
With our scarves held aloft in our spiritual home
You know in this place that you won’t walk alone

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Well I’ve cheered there in sunshine, and I’ve sung there by floodlight
I’ve danced with delight and I’ve cried there in pain
Parkhead at full voice is so glorious
You’ll know that the Bhoys are victorious

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 We’ve got memories we’ll treasure, til we go to our graves
Of dribbles and tackles, of goals and of saves
Of triumphs and losses, of joy and despair
But we’ll always be proud to say we had been there

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Now the finest in Europe have all come and found
Reputations mean nothing when you come to our ground
As I’ve seen how my team gets raised up to such heights
We have conquered them all on such magical nights

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Well I’ve cheered there in sunshine, and I’ve sung there by floodlight
I’ve danced with delight and I’ve cried there in pain
Parkhead at full voice can inspire
The Bhoys to reach higher and higher

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 When I pass by at nightfall, with its screens and its lights
It truly is one of life’s magical sights
It sends out its signal to dark Celtic skies
To guide us all back to our home, Paradise

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 It’s a place with a history, that still grows to this day
And the only thing certain is I know I can say
That I know ’til I die, that I’ll come back again
and again and again and again and again

Notes

Was origiinally designed to be sung to the tune of The Green Fields of France, which is why there’s a chorus section which scans a bit differently to the rest. It’s also why there’s the “again and again and again” ending.
