Ourselves Alone

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Ourselves alone, felt that way at times.
Fighting the odds and corruption crimes.
Hurdles to clear, much red tape to cut.
Trying to catch liars on the back foot.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Ourselves alone, how we felt at the start.
Only a few other fans played their part.
Evertonians of course do spring to mind.
But much other support was hard to find.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Now years later and the truth be known.
The justice call beyond our City has grown.
Fans worldwide now back our campaign.
Because now they know who was to blame.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Our rivalries cast aside for issues like this.
A time to swerve conflict,to give it a miss.
Because justice is justice in any walk of life.
And the corruption we faced was so very rife.

Notes

Cheers for all the support out there!
My previous poem ‘Stand on Tiptoe’ by the way was written for 16 year old Kester Ball, who went to Hillsborough with his Dad but sadly lost his life.
RIP young man.
