Out Of Control? Could Be.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 You may call me a cynical cur
But when the winner flew in at Turf Moor
Of two men in the land
Could’ve had this tale banned
One was England’s former publicity man
Now representing a jilted l’amour?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The other was sat in the stands
Well versed in disguising the damned
A former master of spin
To a warmongering PM
Would have been economical with the truth
Or the slurs.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Then the culprit
With money to burn
A gagging order he tried overturned
Scores a goal then stone-faced
As his team-mates embrace
Seemed like the loser who never quite learns?

Notes

This is not meant to be a poem about anyone’s morality, but more of a dig at the way P.R controls our game.

If Max Clifford, former PR man to the England football team, or Alistair Campbell former spin doctor to Tony Bliar and die-hard Burnley fan were in there fightiing the corner of beleagured and lets be honest John (I don’t seem to learn) Terry. Would this story have even managed to knock BB off the front or Andy Murray bawling his eyes out, off the back pages of the red tops? I somehow doubt it and as for a footballer trying to get a gagging order put on the gutter press? Give me a break!

You couldn’t make this stuff up if you tried or have they?

Rant over!

Peace.

Kev.
