Parody of Leisure (W.H.Davies)

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 What is this game so full of care,
we’re not allowed to stand and swear?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Not allowed to kick some striker’s shin,
who cares for rules, I want to win.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Not allowed to argue, though we’re always right,
else booked by the ref for starting a fight.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Not allowed to shoot an evil glance,
and two footed lunges – not a chance!

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Not allowed to wait ’till your defence can,
perfect the formation your manager began.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 A poor game is this, so full of rules,
referees are a bunch of fools.
