Patron Saint of Football Fans

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Sandy was a Killie fan
Passed away a young man
Left my sister a widow
But his spirit is still aglow

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 We’d go and watch the Rovers
Both Home and away
I need him when I pray

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 It was just before the World Cup
Of nineteen eighty two
Scotland had qualified
But from the Big C he died

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 We’d go and watch the Rovers
Both Home and away
I need him when I pray

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Sandy’s Dad bought him a sweater
And travelled down from Scotland
But it was to be a sad day
Sandy was gone with his Dad on the way

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 We’d go and watch the Rovers
Both Home and away
I need him when I pray

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 I wore it for the funeral
I was just fourteen
An SNP badge was pinned on me
His friend was out of his tree

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 We’d go and watch the Rovers
Both Home and away
I need him when I pray

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 I stiil have the sweater
Twenty five years later
I’ll make it a work of art
That’s when peace will start

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 We’d go and watch the Rovers
Both Home and away
I need him when I pray

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 Sandy is a saint
Should be recognised
By the Catholic Church
But we’re left in the lurch

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 We’d go and watch the Rovers
Both Home and away
I need him when I pray
