Gallowgate flags fly at half mast
Toon legends statues now wearing black
Teardrops fall from leaden skies
Pavel, forever a Geordie in Tyneside eyes.
© OLIVER 15
‘ Pavel is a Geordie’ read his Tee shirt as he saluted the Geordie fans when he proudly strode around St James’ Park as part of Kevin Keegan’s entertainers, and oh how we took him to our hearts. Forever remembered, now rest in peace WOR BONNY LAD.

I really like this poem. So many great phrases: “striped and manicured”, “a crowd of heads go drooping”, “and maintain home advantage”, “when Mum blew for dinner”. Much appreciated! Thank you.

Such great words Ray. So evocative of that time of innocence Kepp on mate. More please. It will be under the Nostaglia section too.

As a child I drew crowds; row upon row,
fifteen thousand little circles for the fans,
such a great line…bewcause we all did…and golaposts nets and floodlights too…
