Penultimate Day In The Play.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Belgium’s best side for ages land third place
“It’s Coming Home”, Ingerland a creditable fourth
ITV – for me – hands down land the punditry crown
For the match of the tournament thus far…I’d say
…Keano v Wrighty…of course
Mind you, having said that…Keano v Bilic wasn’t too far away!

Notes

Belgium’s mesmerizing counter attacking reminds me of the wonderful Dutch sides which entertained the purist, but…rarely if ever won anything…I do so hope I’m wrong? Meanwhile W.I.P England – in the second half of this game at least – looked like they might make a fist of it until Hazard sealed bronze with their second goal. The Belgian interviewer applauding Roberto Martinez for his team playing, “Happy Football”, after the match, seemed to me…just such a Dutch thing to say.

I thought sad statistician Statto retired, when Skinner and Baddiel finished their football show? Sadly he’s been reincarnated – at the BBC – in the smug guise of Gary Line-acre, (Mick Channons burred pronunciation of your mans name) who never ceases to annoy me…for some reason. Thought the Beeb studio coverage looked/sounded dated and over rehearsed on more than one occasion.

Forget Keane v Viera. ITV had me tuning in just to see who he (Keane) was gonna have a very public, off the cuff pop at, and have a real pop he did. Wright, Dixon, Bilic, Neville, Jones, Stones, Rose, Treesa May, Postman Pat, his black and white cat, no-one it seemed was off limits to the Cork man’s caustic sarcasm, and great viewing it was too.

Go well, be lucky and keep smiling.

Peace
