Please God

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 It’s a lovely town is Stockport,
a place to enjoy the famous local beer
But the one thing that could make it even better,
would be a visit from you this year

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 You see the Devil’s been working overtime,
to take away our cheer
But the gloom would all be lifted,
if you could visit us this year

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The evil happenings at our football club,
has seen many grown men shed a tear
It could all be so much better,
if you would call in on us this year

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 It’s not a job for Superman,
Dr Who or the A Team, that much is clear
What our club is desperate for,
is just a moment with you this year

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 I’ve never been a religious man,
but would go to church 52 weeks of the year
Not just for weddings, christenings and funerals,
if you called at Edgeley Park this year

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 In an instant you could put right,
all the worries and all of the fears
Our club could get back to ‘normal’,
and you wouldn’t have to call again for years

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Please God could you call in to Stockport,
you will fill the Cheadle End with cheers
You could wear the scarf my father wore,
as the Devil and his friends leave the town in tears
