Postcard to the Players

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 A summer spent under telling trees
Cocktails mixed by honey bees
Skin peels off in the midday sun
Brattles of thunder heard by one
Sand, sea, and nibbles line the floor of the car
We’re out of petrol but think we’ll still go far
We travel our dreams all summer through
But when August comes it’s over to you

Notes

Away from daily necessity we spend time dreaming of where we’ll be one day – earning a fortune, inventing a car that runs on carrier bags, discovering a cure for the ills that haunt us all. Or maybe you just want a new shed. Once summer is over, we often have no time or money to pursue our dreams and we rely on basking in the success of our football team. Don’t place your hopes in Whoever FC this season – they’ll only let you down!
