Power To The People. Right On.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Dough boy and his waning star
Journeyed to America, like a modern day Pilgrim Father,
To preach to the natives about….Soccer
I use the term…Soccer in this instance
As American Football
Is a whole different ball-game (sic) to ours.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Never the less,
After accepting the Yankee Dollar
And resurrecting a fast fading England career
Dough Boy obtains permission
From his generous and accommodating pay-masters
To go on a shopping and football soiree, to Meelan.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 After trying to arrange a permanant move to Meelan
And having a very public falling out
With the club captain back at LA Galaxy
Regarding loyalty and commitment to the team
Dough Boy reluctantly resumes training in LA
And in the match against Meelan

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 With Vicky, Tom, Gary et al
Sat high up in the stands
Things come to an inevitable head….with the fans
Preaching and spreading the word about football
May be seen to some as a noble and lucrative gesture
When an illustrious career is over.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 But… where ever in the World the beautiful game is played
And at what ever level
Fans are the life blood of any football / soccer club
And if you ain’t putting it in, week in week out
No matter who you are,
They’ll be the first ones to let you know about it.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 As one beleagured pilgrim found out this week
Much to his chagrin
Sparking his agent to seek out a lucrative move
Back to….. The Premiership, maybe?

Notes

It’s the same the whole World over
It’s the megastars get the pay
But don’t you dare try have them over
Or us fans will have our say!

I’m not in agreement with Dough Boy trying to do an Eric or football fans engaging in the noble art with past it idols, but banners and voicing your
concerns from the stands or the seats questioning a players loyalty and commitment to the cause are right up my street, hence calling the poem “Power to the People”. Right On!

Peace

Kev
