Pre-Match Tension

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Butterflies in my belly,
Buttocks clenched with fear,
Glancing at the telly
As the time draws near.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Always pessimistic,
Never tempting fate,
Cruelly masochistic,
Agonising wait.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Palms all moist and sweating,
What’s the latest news?
All the pre-match betting
Has us down to lose.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Maybe we can nick it
If we hold them out,
Unsure if I can stick it,
Voice too hoarse to shout.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Gracious Lord on Highest,
Look down from a height,
Let the ref be biased
Unto us tonight.

Notes

I’m always pessimistic before a match. I imagine the worst scenario. Normally by the end of the game I’m very relieved!
