Beware false profits on the Tyne
They only worship the bottom line

With relegation rivals will cut no slack
Remember this, come the next defeat
You can’t tie ribbons to a balance sheet



A few words on the day that Newcastle United, firmly anchored second from bottom in the Premier League, proudly announced to the world they had made a £30million profit. Only in modern football does such institutionalised failure reap such grotesque reward.
