Promotion Guaranteed

¶ 1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Win today and we’re back where we belong
(Start tuning up, ‘We’re Back Again’; the WBA promotion song)
All we need to do is get a result at the Keepmoat
to keep our Premier League aspirations well and truly afloat.
But, I’ve supported the Baggies for far too many years
to know how quickly the laughter can turn to bitter tears….

¶ 2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 It’s now 2.30 and it’s a beautiful day outside
but, here I am, sat at my computer, trying to hide
from the wife and the fence that needs a coat of paint
or from playing with the kids (OK, so I’m no saint!)

both would have added a bit of pace in the afternoon sun.
But Doncaster have only got one win from the last five-
surely too late to keep their Play-off hopes alive?

till Chris Brunt adds a second- that’s exactly what we need!
Out 100th goal in all competitions! Promotion now looks clear!
Surely we can’t contrive to throw it away from here?

Emmanuel-Thomas for Rovers… has the tide begun to turn?
And Forest are winning while the second half has only just begun!
This promotion is, clearly, nowhere near to being won.

Roman Bednar slots one home and leaves Forest’s hopes bereft!
(which is just as well as Ipswich have given up the ghost:
the score for the City Ground is now 3-0 to the hosts!)

What the players put us through is some kind of mortal sin!
Five minutes to hang on.. we need to cross this final bridge…
keep everything crossed and the champagne in the fridge.

Some players take their tops off, others dance and shout.
They ‘boing’ in front of our jubilant fans.. well, was it ever in doubt?!
