Psalm 28.10

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 He led me to the valley,
To the valley of despair,
And He placed a sack of ashes on my head.
And He filled my nose with bogies
And pulled out my thinning hair,
And put bits of mould upon my daily bread.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 And our enemies were multiplied,
Upon the river side,
And they smote us with a viciousness that shook us.
And the Lord, He gave them succour
As we bent our heads and cried,
For they truly were a bunch of lucky succours.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 And we gnashed our teeth with impotence
And rent our garments too,
And we wailed and sent entreaties to the Lord.
And He looked upon His followers
And saw that we were true,
And He put our cursed tormentors to the sword.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 He breathed fire into the football boots
Of mighty Jason Byrne,
He touched the brow of Richie Baker’s head.
He anointed Jamie Harris
With sweet lotion from His urn,
And the Philistines in sorrow turned and fled.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Hosanna in the Highest, Lord,
Thy Herald Angels sing,
Thy servants offer thanks and celebrate.
We thank You for the miracle
Of Richie on the wing,
And same again in Longford would be great.

Notes

Last night’s game vs Shamrock Rovers. 2-0 with half an hour to go. Our championship hopes were disappearing rapidly over the edge of the cliff, all was gloom and woe.
We won 4-2.
