Red and Yellow

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I grazed my knee the other day,
Which caused some instant bruising,
And from the wound, to my dismay,
Incessant blood came oozing.
My mum had always warned me to
Clean any cuts with haste,
But I had something else to do,
I had no time to waste.
Next morning, hopping out of bed,
I checked the scabby fellow,
Hoping it would be bright red,
But fearing it was yellow.
And sure enough, ‘twas not bright red,
But deep-infected yellow.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Bobby Ryan got the ball
And skipped o’er several tackles.
No-one made him work at all,
Which raised our Stuey’s hackles.
Charging in with one intent
(To make sure he was stopped)
All his energy was spent
Ensuring Ryan dropped.
The referee, a dacent fellow,
Toward the spot now sped.
I hoped the card would be a yellow,
But feared it might be red.
And sure enough, ‘twas not bright yellow,
But deep and vivid red.
