Red card Blues

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I woke up Saturday morning, my baby said to me.
” If you’re going to that football match, don’t expect me
to be here when you come back, I’ve had enough of you’
She told me she was leaving me with those red card football blues.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I went off to the football, the game was really tough
A ten man brawl, two dodgy pens and at half time I felt rough
The crowd went wild at times, offside was only my view
Police escorted me from the field, with those red card football blues

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I might be the referee, but baby don’t red card me
I don’t want the red card, I just need some sympathy.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 I got home Saturday evening, my baby had gone away
Nothing in my life was right, but, I still watched Match of the Day
Football is a great game, but a referee will always lose.
The only thing he gets is those red card football blues

Notes

A tongue in cheek look at the woes of refereeing with a serious message about getting football fanaticism into perspective. Also available as a song on you tube.
