Remembrance Day 2005

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The poppies proliferate
as did the bullet holes
with glutinous blood, seeping
and the inescapable
draining of life
that still, sees us weeping

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 We usually wear the poppies
with pride, to our matches
This year though
‘midst media mania
and red top madness
we’ll wear them
while watching England v Argentina –
a more modern war
a more recent memory
but ever still, that same unrelenting sadness

Notes

For the day that’s in it. Lest we ever forget.
