Retro Hero

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 He was kicked in the head
Went down like a sack of spuds
Finest King Edwards
He played on
Wearing a hat made of bandages
Looking like shredded red cabbage
His shirt bore the mud and the blood, but not his name
His neck strung by beads of effort
Then tears of joy wetted the trophys head

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Now common sense has been stretchered off
Replaced by rules, and fools measuring success in pounds

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Our hero died, along with the atmosphere
His name buried in history books
Remembered not for money made
But because he played the game
