But even if she had sat next to me
It wouldn’t have helped me very much
To feel good about what I could see

Should never have been a threat
But viewed live, or later on cable
They always looked all of that

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The game was hard, but the game was fair
Well, apart from that foul on Reyes
I felt I just wanted to pull out my hair
At the efforts of some of our players

To produce those skills and that speed
For me it’s an effort just to shout
When the players don’t take any heed

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Two one down, I was close to sobbin’
I was feeling pale and wan
When to the rescue came young Robin
He was better than the real Batman

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 So, my hopes are raised, we’re off again
Off, we hope, on an unbeaten run
Though football is full of surprises and pain
Mustn’t mope, let’s go and have fun
