Roger McGough

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I love listening to Roger McGough
On the radio, in the afternoon
Reading his own words
Speaking his own poems
In that educated Scouse of his
I love the journey from Me and My Cat to
A Square Dance to The Fallen Birdman
at the feet of Sad Aunt Madge
I wonder did she ever catch a ride on
The Icingbus…
And even tho’ he’s a bluenose
They tell me I’m home
His vowels wrapped up in metaphors
They tell me I’m nearly home
Roger McGough and Kenny Dalglish
All the way down the rainbow
Home.
