Scarves

tears,
pride,
dreams,
hopes,
and smiles,
all in our scarves,
in our hearts,
in our children’s eyes.

do what we cannot.

Notes

Although, originally a fairly long and convoluted poem about the reverence of Mr. Shankly, I shortened it to convey the meaning of the scarves. Scarves were the blood, the toil, the hopes and dreams of the supporters that lay on the field after the league win. He asked a steward (or was it a policeman), to not cast them aside, explaining the meaning to the aforementioned person. He then wrapped as many as he could and celebrated with the crowd. The poem ends with a quote about Milan (which one I dunno?). The poem, to be honest, doesn’t quite work for me but heck it was done on the spur of the moment and hopefully it can convey some feelings.

Editors note :

We had a quick reply reminding Mr Sharma that :

Bill Shankly was referring to Inter Milan (back in 1965)
