Season Ticket

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Last game he saw was Norwich at home,
August 15th. Reckon he’d ‘vibed out’
mentally, found other interests, disconnected

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Took pictures of his kittens, cycled
and travelled on business, found
a form of self-sufficiency, light

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 in the eyes and sunsets at far removed
harbours, let social media follow
if it would, lied to the GP’s, set fire

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 to the postbox. Set Match of the Day
to ‘series record’ and disappeared
from Late August to May.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Came back and watched it in one sitting-
renewed his season ticket

Notes

This is about the idea of escaping football for a while, before recovering the passion in a renewed form.

It’s based on a fan from Reading who took a season’s break from football – it was possible to follow his escapades and new found interests on Flickr.

However, the idea conveyed from the end of the third stanza that you can, in this day and age, evade knowledge of an entire season’s play is – while possibly an attractive idea – obviously pure fantasy.
