Every red heart at the news began then to break
Who would we find the wear the King’s crown?
But we didn’t wait long for heir to be found

The season began with a little of change
But that year ended badly for second the place
They’d call for his head now patience gone from the game

And the UEFA Cup final was Liverpool 4 Bruges 3
We were dancing and singing on the banks of The Mersey
But this was just the start of the great man’s legacy

And Sir Bob he described it as “My perfect day”
And it banished the gloom of a lost FA Cup
As Sir Bob joined Sir Matt and the Immortal St Jock

So it’s off to Parkhead and the best prize brought home
The name of Dalglish would set fire to red’s hearts
And in a pantheon of heroes his the brightest star

19 gleaming cups at the final count
6 League Championships and 3 European Cups
For this man to be knighted he’s done more than enough

Denied a man of the people his well deserved crown
But here in our hearts he will ‘ere reign as a king
Sir Bob Paisley of Liverpool, the best that there’s been.
