Six Loud Scotsmen

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 There was I in a pub in Chester
Six loud Scotsmen roared,
The lad McFadden the man of the moment
Once again had scored.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 He unleashed a shot much closer than,
His wonder goal he scored in France.
With all his might that shot that night,
Gave the man in the sticks no chance.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Here am I the living proof,
Six loud Scotsmen raised the roof.
Honest, it is no joke,
The pub was the Royal Oak.

Notes

Scotland v Ukraine
13/10/2007

On the night of James McFadden’s 30-yard goal against France I was in my local pub.
The England game was live on TV and in the bar was a group of servicemen taking in the game. I could tell by their accents that they were a mixture of Welsh and English, all a long way from home. There was a sudden ‘twitch’ from the young man to my nearest left. Then across the bottom of the screen came the latest score, France 0 Scotland 1.

A loud lone cheer from a young serviceman from Dundee.
