Six of the best for Panama

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Panama punished with six of the best
Didn’t do their homework and failed on their test
Three of those strikes came from the Kane
But hats off to Panama
they played through the pain
Two more strikes
from the sticks of Stones
It broke Panamanian spirits and chilled their bones.
A lash from Jesse Linberg added to their woes
Who proclaimed that this England team
was a bunch of average Joes?
A Panama consolation meant
it weren’t a complete disaster
But they won’t forget their trouncing
from their ruthless English master.

Notes

For the understanding of those under the age of 50, six of the Best, usually meant that some poor, young school boy was going to receive six whacks of the cane. This was usually administered gleefully by some sadistic teacher . It was at times given for deplorable acts of behaviour like getting the E and the I the wrong way round in a word like Inconceivable during your weekly spelling test.
