Sky Blue Army

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Thirty Thousand Coventry City supporters
packed tightly into our Football Ground
Sky Blue scarves waved so proudly
and the fans making an awesome sound.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 It felt good to be amongst them
my club shirt worn with pride
I felt like I did many years ago
the era when we were a good side.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I saw the excitement on young faces
as they watched their heroes play
I could imagine what they were thinking
that they may be them one fine day.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 But football can be a very cruel game
it has a habit of slapping you in the face
you can end up in total despair and agony
and wish you were in another place.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 As our beloved team failed to score
in fact they went and let us all down
we were beaten three goals to nil
so we left wearing an almighty frown.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 But Saturday is yet another day
as we go through it all again
will the Sky Blues bring us joy
or another dose of misery and pain ?

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 There’s only one way to find out
and that is by going and turning up
anyway we didn’t want to go to Wembley
as we have already won the F.A.Cup !

Notes

We broke the record attendance the other night for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, with a crowd of Thirty One Thousand. Thirty thousand were Coventry fans and we lifted the Ricoh roof off.
But for all our domination as we were constantly battering their defence,we got sucker punched three times by Crewe on the counter attack. So fair play to them for winning by that margin, but I won’t forget the look on the faces of two young children by me.
They were both in tears at the end and I thought to myself welcome to the world of Football kids !
