Snatched from the Drawers of Your Seat

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 When someone said ‘show us your draws’
We had plenty – a point a piece, drip fed
Then the psychic said drawers are important
Just make sure you’re wearing red
We thought we’d already suffered enough
Haunted by teams of South Coast
Handbell of Pompey, handballs of Saints
Not sure which frustrated us most
Game underway and sure enough
We were soon a goal behind
But our behinds were scarlet clad
We knew our fate was star signed
We equalised, we went in front
But could we score one more
We did and we were happy
Sang till our throats were raw
Clinging on with tenterhooks
We felt we knew the script
But several times this season
Our assumed firm hold has slipped
We wore the pants, we got the points
Talk of doom is premature
All we needed to succeed –
A defence with a bigger aperture

Notes

It’s sad to think that some fans (ahem) heeded the pyschic and wore
red pants to change our luck. Our luck did change though, now we just have to hope that people don’t resist changing their underwear for the rest of the season.
