Notes

Socrates RIP 1954-2011

The first part of each letter (in speech marks) of Socrates name in this Acrostic (here re-entitled ‘Acrostes’ in his memory) consists of (slight) adaptations of quotations by the great philosopher of the same name Socrates*

**** As has become almost the normal fan response from the heart these days, when asked to observe a minute’s silence in Brazil for Socrates the fooballer this past weekend ,crowds immediaely burst into song and cheers.

*The great philosopher Socrates was born in 469 B.C and executed in 399 B.C after a trial in which he was found guilty of promoting dangerous ideas …well that’s all us poets/fans done for then?.
