Speedie And Dixon !

Start a fight in an empty room
Alongside placid Dixon
They took us to the moon
One a blonde model type
The other of basic stuff
One a timid hero
The other very tough
Goals galore and by the score
That we would adulate
John Neal in his wisdom
The pair of them made great
Early baths for Speedie
Dixon England games
Idolised by Blue boys
Wallowed in such fame
Speedie signed a three year contract
Amidst big transfer fears
But after suspensions and sendings off
He only played a year !
Dixon never stopped scoring
No matter where he played
Boyish good looks concealed a predator
Of whom defenders were afraid !

Notes

This is the best pair of forwards I’ve seen lead our line, but I live in hope to see a better pair in the future. Cost us nothing and Speedie in particular an ex-miner was just awesome and loved by the fans as was the blond blue eyed idol Dixon who just seemed to score all the time, his England career should have been better as he scored a couple against the Germans pre World cup in Brazil in the Maracana, but I’m not sure the England manager(Robson?) at the time fancied him that much.
