Still dreaming…

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I was the bottom player
in the bottom team
youth football was unkind
but I still dreamed the dream

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 From being more than a sub
to FA cup success
I wasn’t very good
but I couldn’t dream for less

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 To play with England greats
Gazza, Shearer et all
Wembley Stadium, the twin towers
but I couldn’t kick a ball

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Now it seems to late
I’m too old they say
Just like Wembley & the cup
its all ‘Champions League’ today

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 ”Stop being a fool”
‘bad?nah, you’re really bad mate”
maybe there right
right…mmm…Ian Wright, he started late

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Then there’s that boxer
Italian Stallion, Rocky B
he came from the gutter
but it was only a movie

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 I still dream the dream
but now I must stop
live the dream seems a better idea
remember me…I’m going for the top

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 I feel like a Shakespeare
who cannot read or write
but now I’ll try and learn
with all my heart and might

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Playing with Joe Bloggs in the park
or Beckham, Owen and the rest
it doesn’t matter to me
as long as I’ve done my best

Notes

My mum has always said to me’as long as you’ve done your best then I’m proud of you.’ There are many players who could maybe of done more and can’t say that they ever fufilled their potential. When I’m old and grey, I hope i can say I have.
